Prof. Dr. Holger Helbig

Uwe Johnson Professorship for 20th Century Modern German Literature
The Uwe Johnson Professorship for Modern German Literary Studies was endowed to the University of Rostock by Dr. Ulrich Fries and has since become a regular position. Over the past five years, it has developed into the center of worldwide Johnson research. Accordingly, the literature since 1945 forms the core of my research field. In addition, I am concerned with the history of science and cultural studies, which intersect in my interest in the relationship between science and the public sphere. In terms of teaching, this has resulted in a preference for low-technology teaching.
