From September 16 to 20, 2025, the international conference of the Text Encoding Initiative took place at Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Under the theme “New Territories,” academics from around the world once again gathered to discuss the latest developments and approaches in the field of digital text markup.

Dr. Ulrike Henny-Krahmer attended the conference in person as a representative of the University of Rostock. Since January 2025, the DH junior professor has been a member of the Technical Council of the Text Encoding Initiative, where she contributes to the further development of the TEI guidelines. Together with Prof. Dr. Gimena del Río Riande (Universidad del Salvador), she presented the poster “Encoding Argentinian Eighteenth and Nineteenth-Century Drama with TEI.” This is an output of the ArDraCor project, which has been carried out since 2025 by members of the HD LAB at IIBICRIT (CONICET) in collaboration with the Rostock Digital Humanities Working Group and is dedicated to the creation of a digital corpus of Argentinian plays.

In addition to the joint poster presentation, Henny-Krahmer also gave a talk titled “Encoding Hyperfiction” on September 17, 2025. In this talk, she addressed the specific characteristics and challenges that must be considered when marking up such texts in TEI, and also presented initial approaches using an example from the 1990s.

All conference papers have been compiled in a dedicated Zenodo community and are available there for further use. Additional information, including the full conference program, can also be found on the conference website.
