From September 24th to 26th, 2025, the University of Rostock warmly invites all stakeholders from the fields of science, data infrastructure, and research to engage with the current challenges and opportunities of humanities research data. Under the theme "Daten neu denken" ("Re-thinking Data") the focus will be on how research data in the humanities can be thought about and utilized in new ways.
Following successful events in Cologne (FORGE 2021, "Mapping the Landscape") and Tübingen (FORGE 2023, "Anything goes? Forschungsdaten in den Geisteswissenschaften – kritisch betrachtet"), FORGE 2025 continues this tradition. The conference builds on the foundations laid by previous conferences – FORGE 2015, part of the "Geisteswissenschaftliche Infrastruktur für Nachhaltigkeit" project at the University of Hamburg, and "Jenseits der Daten – Nachhaltigkeit für Forschungsanwendungen und Software" in 2016. (For more background on FORGE, visit the DHd blog.)
This year's conference is organized by the AG fdmGW of the DHd Association, the Junior Professorship for Digital Humanities, the Rostock University Library, the Department "Knowledge – Culture – Transformation" of the Interdisciplinary Faculty at the University of Rostock, and the RosDH.
