#NichtNurTextNichtNurDaten

From 23 to 27 February 2026, the annual conference of the association Digital Humanities in German-speaking countries (DHd) took place in Vienna—and once again, several representatives from Rostock were on site to present current research projects and exchange ideas with the community.

From the team of the Junior Professorship for Digital Humanities, Marc Lemke and Nils Kellner again took part; this time with a poster contribution entitled Kombinieren statt neu trainieren. Zur automatisierten Erkennung diegetischen räumlichen Vokabulars mit Hilfe existierender Annotationen und Classifier (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.18999519). The poster presents one of the final outputs of the DFG project CANSpiN, which has been conducted at the University of Rostock since 2023, and offers insight into current approaches to utilizing existing annotations for the automated analysis of literary spaces.

In addition, Kellner participated in this year’s conference Doctoral Consortium with an individual presentation, in which he shared preliminary analyses from his PhD project: Automatische Erkennung von Spatial Frames und Emotionen in deutschen und spanischen Romanen der Romantik (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.18696166).

Natascha Naumann, research associate at the Moritz Schlick Research Center, and Dr. Andy Räder, coordinator of the department “Wissen – Kultur – Transformation” at the Interdisciplinary Faculty of the University of Rostock, also took part in DHd 2026. Both were able to gather valuable input for their respective areas of work—such as in the field of digital editions and the research focus on Digital Hermeneutics—and gained new perspectives for future projects.

More information about DHd 2026 can be found on the official conference website. The Book of Abstracts with all contributions is available here.
